What is Second Life?

Second Life is a virtual word designed and run by Linden Lab. Second Life went public in 2003. In January 2007 it passed the 3 million registered users mark. Although Linden Lab's move to make basic accounts free was disputed by veteran residents, it surely helped to turn the virtual wold into a mass phenomenon.

Second Life allows the users unprecendented freedom in customizing their avatar and create a world to their liking by offering tools for building, scripting and upload of textures, allowing residents to build and design buildings, clothing, vehicles and almost anything else one can imagine.
